Philippine Government Certified Trusted MIRIX Eel Farm
Luzon, the largest island of the Philippine archipelago, has a year-round tropical monsoon climate with high temperatures and humidity, and an average annual temperature of 27℃. Eels show their highest activity around 27℃, which is considered their optimal water temperature, making the Philippine climate an ideal environment for eel cultivation. At our farm, factors such as water temperature, water level, water flow, and oxygen saturation are monitored and controlled 24/7, 365 days a year with the latest equipment. Working together with our experienced and skilled staff, we provide delicious, high-quality eels.
From glass eel collection to sales A fully in-house route with no middlemen Achieving unprecedented low prices
We have employed MIRIX Group staff at our collection sites and established a system to transport freshly caught glass eels directly to our farm. By eliminating middlemen—each of whom would otherwise drive up raw material costs—we have succeeded in delivering our eels to customers at affordable prices.
Reliable and Safe Traceability
From collection sites to farming and shipment, every step is consistently managed by our local group staff, ensuring continuous records of health checks and environmental conditions. We have also installed network cameras, allowing real-time monitoring from Japan 24 hours a day.
Natural spring water drawn from 180 meters underground The finest natural environment
Mineral-rich natural groundwater is filtered and warmed to 25°C before being supplied to the eel ponds. Our ponds use a continuous flow system, ensuring they are always refreshed with clean natural water. Temperature sensors maintain the optimal range of 25–29°C, providing the best conditions for eel growth.
To maintain eel health, the use of antibiotics is generally considered essential. However, thanks to our abundant underground spring water, our farm can refresh the ponds with clean water twice daily during feeding. This allows us to keep the eels healthy without the use of antibiotics.
Highly Nutritious Original Feed (Additive-Free)
Depending on the eels’ growth stage and stress levels, our feed is carefully formulated with fishmeal as the base, supplemented with amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in various blends. During the twice-daily feedings, we monitor their feeding behavior to check overall health. Any eels showing low activity are immediately examined, allowing us to respond quickly and thoroughly to any potential illness.
On-Site Management by Experienced Eel Farming Staff
Thanks to their advanced eel farming skills, our staff can monitor health during daily feeding and quickly detect signs of illness from the condition of the eels’ skin. They are also highly knowledgeable about the essential conditions for quality eel farming—such as water, temperature, oxygen, and salinity—ensuring thorough environmental management at all times.
At MIRIX Group, we ship only eels that we are confident meet our highest standards of quality.

Through People and Resources, We Create Smiles and Inspiration for the World
Thank you for your continued support. In 2024, we established our own eel farm in the Philippines, providing an optimal environment where eels are carefully raised with dedication.
Japan is known as the longest-living country in the world. One of the reasons is the traditional Japanese diet, which includes nutrient-rich foods such as eel. Eel is not only delicious but also a highly nutritious food, packed with protein, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. It contributes to fatigue recovery, immune system support, and anti-aging, making it a food that people everywhere should include in their daily lives.
Our mission is to make this nutritious food accessible to more people worldwide by delivering safe, high-quality eels at affordable prices. At the same time, we are committed to sustainable aquaculture and responsible sourcing, because preserving aquatic resources is a global responsibility for the future.

🌍 Commitment to the SDGs
~ Toward Securing Sustainable Eel Resources ~
🌍 At our company, we are committed to the sustainable use of aquatic resources through our aquaculture and import business utilizing glass eels (juvenile Anguilla bicolor) grown in the Philippines. Unlike Japanese eels (Anguilla japonica), Anguilla bicolor is widely distributed in tropical regions, allowing for stable year-round collection. By reducing dependence on species that face overfishing and a high risk of extinction, we contribute to the conservation of aquatic resources and a balanced, sustainable supply. This initiative aligns with the following SDGs:
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Resource-conscious procurement of raw materials
Goal 14: Life Below Water – Sustainable fisheries management and marine resource conservation
Goal 2: Zero Hunger – Stable and affordable supply of animal protein
We will continue to pursue environmentally responsible distribution of aquatic products and propose new ways of enjoying food through the utilization of Anguilla bicolor.

With many years of experience in importing and wholesaling fresh food products, we are well-versed in customs procedures for both air and sea shipments. Our goal is to provide thorough and reliable support so that our customers feel confident when engaging in international trade. The MIRIX eel farm was established in the Philippines, carefully selecting a location renowned for its excellent water quality. Food safety is not just about being additive-free or pesticide-free on the surface—it is about knowing where, how, and under what conditions the product was born and raised, and ensuring it is truly trustworthy. Our local director, Mr. Min Phan, has been my close friend for over 20 years. Above all, he is an eel farmer who prioritizes the health of glass eels, never compromising on creating the best possible environment. It was precisely because I saw his dedication that I decided to establish an eel farm in the Philippines and confidently bring our eels to Japan. We are committed to delivering glass eels of the highest quality that will meet the expectations of eel-loving people in Japan (and I count myself among them).

MIRIX JAPAN Vice President & Director: Mitsuru Kawabata
As a licensed nutritionist, I have worked extensively in the field of food safety and hygiene. Today, I am engaged in the operation of our company’s eel farm in the Philippines, officially certified by the Philippine government, where we are building a sustainable aquaculture system for Anguilla bicolor. I personally handle all practical aspects of import operations, including preparation of customs documentation, negotiations with overseas partners, quality inspections within Japan, and logistics management. Because our business is small in scale, I value giving careful attention to each case and providing attentive, detail-oriented service as an importer. By exploring new models of eel distribution that respond to changes in the environment and the times, I strive to deliver sustainable options directly to the field.

In South Korea, we are committed to faithfully recreating Japan’s traditional eel culture by launching an affordable unadon (grilled eel rice bowl) chain in Seoul—made possible through the cost advantages of operating our own eel farms. A seasoned entrepreneur who has successfully managed 20 hormone (grilled offal) chain restaurants in Seoul’s bustling districts was captivated by the allure of Japanese unadon. He firmly believes that the most delicious way to enjoy eel is through kabayaki, the classic grilled style.
